Solebury Orchards Nominated As One Of Country's Best

SOLEBURY, PA — A local business is a finalist in a nationwide competition launched by USA Today for the country's best apple orchard. Solebury Orchards, located on Creamery Road, grows apples, peaches, blueberries, pears, plums, apricots, cherries and more. They are also well-known for their amazing cider donuts.

The best apple orchard contest is part of USA Today's 10 Best contest series, which explores the top destinations in various travel and leisure related categories. There are 20 orchards nominated; Solebury Orchards was the only Pennsylvania site to make the nomination list.

"Autumn means harvest season, and according to the U.S. Apple Association, more than 7,500 growers are producing apples in all 50 states. Since each individual apple must be hand-picked, many orchards open their gates for visitors to come and pick their own, often with added autumn entertainment," the contest introduction says.

You can vote for the local orchard once per day until polls close on Monday, Sept. 25 at noon. Click here to vote.

During the fall season, visitors to Solebury Orchards are welcome to pick their own apples and blueberries amid 80 acres of beautiful Bucks County scenery.

The orchard's pick-your-own season kicks off this Thursday, August 31st with Gala apples. There are complimentary wagon rides through the orchard for apple picking on Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 2 through Nov. 5.

Solebury Orchards also has a market that's open from late June through March.
