Police in Solebury Township are investigating a suspicious fire that damaged a River Road property Friday morning.

Authorities in Solebury Township are investigating a suspicious fire that damaged a River Road property Friday morning. The fire, which happened at an unoccupied home along the 1600 block of River Road near Bowman’s Hill Tower Park, is under investigation by Solebury Township Police and state and county fire officials.
According to police, the fire broke out in a historic home along the 1600 block of River Road, near Bowman’s Hill Tower Park.
A person driving by reported the fire around 7:40 a.m., police said. When New Hope Eagle Fire Company arrived, they found the unoccupied two-story home on fire. The fire caused moderate damage.

The cause of the fire was not released but the preliminary investigation indicates it is suspicious, Solebury Township officials said.
The state owns the home, which maintained by the DCNR, The Intelligencer reported.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area between 6 and 7:40 a.m. should contact police at 215-348-7400.
