NEW HOPE, PA — Fall is a great time to get outside in New Hope-Lambertville and take in the rich offering of festivals.
The changing colors of autumn provide a scenic background for fall and harvest festivals, which have contests ranging from apple bobbing and pumpkin carving to lumberjack contests and Halloween parades.
Fall is also the season for corn mazes, pumpkin patches and apple orchard visits. Here are a few festivals and events in the New Hope-Lambertville area worth putting on the calendar:

- Solebury Orchards, 3325 Creamery Road, New Hope. During weekends in October and the first weekend of November there are wagon rides through the orchards for apple picking. All pick-your-own fruit is priced by the pound for whatever you pick. Pick your own is open rain or shine.
- Second Annual Fall Fest at the Lambertville Estate, 36 Rocktown Lambertville Road, Lambertville, N.J. Saturday, Oct. 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. Featured events: food truck, live music, wood carving pony rides (3 to 5:30 p.m.), face painting, pumpkins and S'mores. - October Fun at Bucks Audubon. Pumpkin Carving, October 19. Sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. Help line the trails with Jack-O-Lanterns for the Haunted Trails event by carving a pumpkin. Sessions will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Select a session time when you register.
- Bucks Audubon. Haunted Trails, October 22. Sessions begin at 6 p.m. This fun and family-friendly event is perfect for families with kids ages 4-14 (but definitely can be enjoyed by all). This year there will be two sessions - 6 to 7 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. When you register, you will select a session time. While you wait for the group to go out, enjoy storytelling around the campfire, Halloween crafts, seasonal refreshments and more at the Education Center. Admission: $5/person (BCAS member), $10/person (non-member) or $20/family (BCAS members), and $30/family (non-members).
- Froehlich's Farm & Garden, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farm is located at 3143 York Road, Furlong. The lineup includes music, super hero and princess guest appearances, Sand Castle Winery, The Proper Brewing Company and more.
- Scarecrows In the Village, Peddler's Village, Lahaska. Scarecrows are on display throughout the month of October. OctoberFeast features a weekend of food trucks, live entertainment, beer garden and family activities on Oct. 15 and 16. Admission and parking are free.
- 18th Annual High Heel Drag Race, New Hope. Sunday, October 30 at 3 p.m. on W. Mechanic Street in New Hope. A long-standing tradition and highlight of the fall season in New Hope, this year’s theme is "All that Glitters Are Ghouls - Bewitching beauties who sparkle, shine and know how to have a scary good time!" Hosted by New Hope’s very own Miss Pumpkin, race participants are dressed in costumes and wear three-inch or taller high heels. Runners will carry a pumpkin up the hill on W. Mechanic Street, decorate the pumpkin and race back down the hill.
