Walking Tour, Parade To Mark Memorial Day In New Hope-Lambertville

Historians in New Hope are planning a walking tour, while Lamberville will remember the fallen with a parade and ceremony.

NEW HOPE-Lambertville — The river towns of New Hope and Lambertville will mark Memorial Day with a walking tour and a parade.

The observances begin on Saturday, May 23 with a Memorial Day Walking Tour honoring New Hope residents and all who made the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield.

The tour includes visits to the World War I memorial featuring Private Edgar Denson, and the bridge named in honor of Vietnam War hero, Staff Sergeant Karol Bauer. Also included are discussions of the Revolutionary War and Civil War.

The tour begins at 1 p.m. and will take about an hour. Participants will meet on the back porch of the Parry Mansion Museum. The cost is $15 for non-members and free for members. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along a beverage if you wish. To reserve, click here.

On Monday, May 25, the annual Lambertville Memorial Day Parade will march through the city. The parade will step off at 9 a.m.

The parade will form at North Union and Cherry Streets. It will then proceed south on Union Street to Mount Hope Street, west on Mount Hope Street to South Main Street, north on Main Street to York Street, and then west on York Street to Mary Sheridan Park.

Following the parade at Sheridan Park, the city will pause to remember the men and women who died in service to the nation.
