Walmart Closing Hunterdon County Store

Walmart on Rt. 22 in Readington Township will be closing later this month.

A Hunterdon County Walmart is closing its doors.

Walmart on Rt. 22 in Readington Township will be closing later this month. As a result, 149 employees will lose their jobs by April, according to information from NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

"This tough decision to close the store is based on a number of factors, including financial performance and strategic alignment with long-term plans," said Philip Keene, director of corporate communications for Walmart, told MyCentralJersey.com. He noted the company will make "every effort" to find employees positions at other stores.
