This Weekend In New Hope: Oktoberfest

Looking for something to do this weekend in New Hope? Here's a good option: celebrate Oktoberfest.

Triumph Brewery's annual Oktoberfest celebration will be held this Saturday, Oct. 7 in New Hope. The fun starts at noon.

According to the local brewery, there will be German food, German beer, and German music. Plus, there will be children's activities and adult competitions, including a stein holding contest.

To kick off the day, there will be a traditional tapping of the first barrel of Oktoberfest by New Hope's mayor.
Children's activities will be from noon to 6 p.m. and will include a balloon artist, a magician, face painting and a balloon drop at 3 p.m.

You can also sign up to participate in the Oktoberfest Feats of Strength and Dexterity competitions, which will include a stein holding contest at 6 p.m (Sign up starts at 5:30 p.m.) Prizes will be awarded.

Other feats include a pong toss from 4 to 5 p.m. You'll get three attempts to get a pong ball into a 1/2 stein. You must be 21 or older to participate in the adult activities.

The live music lineup includes: Firehouse Polka Band from Noon to 4 p.m.; Some Assembly Required Unplugged from 5 to 8 p.m.; and After Party with the Essie & the Big Chill 10 p.m. to close.

A $5 cover starts at 9 p.m.; must be 21 or older after that. Triumph Brewery is located at 400 Union Square Drive, New Hope.
