On the night Gregg was killed, Flor was in custody for suspected drunken driving, and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for testing. While there, Flor grabbed another policeman’s weapon and started shooting, wounding two others and killing Gregg.
In the years since his death, the community has done several things to memorialize Officer Gregg.

A portion of the Newtown Bypass is officially called Officer Brian Gregg Memorial Highway.
Additionally, a park on Congress Street in Newtown Borough is called Brian S. Gregg Memorial Park.
