100 PA High Schools With Best Sports Programs: New Ranking

Sports are a big part of the high school experience. So which Pennsylvania high schools have the best sports programs?

A new analysis by data compilers at Niche.com aims to find out.

Niche's 2019 Best High School Sports ranking was created after a "rigorous analysis" of key statistics that reviewed both public and private schools.

The ranking used data from the U.S. Department of Education, reviews from students and parents, the number of state championships, student participation in athletics, and the number of sports offered at the school to compile the scores.

According to Niche, 50 percent of the ranking was based on student and parent surveys on sports. Next, data crunchers used enrollment as a factor, which accounted for 20 percent of the score. The number of championships coupled with the total number of sports offered came next, according for 10 percent each of the score. Finally, analysts looked at the number of students participating — five percent each for boys and girls participation.
