Nearly 200 people braved frigid temperatures to rally Monday in Newtown against cabinet selections by President-elect Donald Trump.

The local protestors participated in a nationwide day of action against the president-elect's "climate denial cabinet." The event began with a rally at the Newtown Friends Meetinghouse, followed by a march and candlelight vigil at State Street and East Center Avenue.

Organizers say 175 people attended to voice opposition to the president-elect's picks for the Environmental Protection Agency, energy secretary, secretary of the interior and secretary of state.
