2 Bucks County Women On Girl's Trip Stuck In Puerto Rico During Hurricane Maria, Report Says

Two Bucks County women who traveled to Puerto Rico for a girl's trip are now stranded on the island just as Hurricane Maria is expected to make a direct hit, according to a report by NBC10.

The station reports that Alex McLaughlin of Bensalem and friend Haley Connaughton of Doylestown arrived in Rincón Saturday night for a vacation, and the next day found out about Hurricane Maria.

Originally scheduled to depart Friday, the two woman tried unsuccessfully to get an earlier flight, they told the station. They've now been evacuated from their original hotel to another building, and have stock piled what little water and food they could find, NBC10 reported.

Maria had maximum sustained winds of 175 mph on Tuesday. The storm made landfall in Puerto Rico on Wednesday morning. It is the first storm of its strength to hit the US territory in nearly 80 years, CNN reports.
