2 Drivers Injured In Truck Collision On Newtown-Middletown Border

The accident happened late Monday morning blocking the Langhorne-Newtown Road at the Newtown Bypass for hours.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Two drivers were extricated from their vehicles Monday morning following an accident between a dump truck and a van at the intersection of Langhorne-Newtown Road and the Newtown Bypass on the Newtown-Middletown border.

Rescue 45 arrived first on the scene to find a dump truck resting on top of a van with two trapped occupants trapped inside the vehicles. Crews worked together to extricate the drivers and handle vehicle hazards.

Both patients were transported to the hospital by emergency medical personnel. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The accident happened late Monday morning blocking Langhorne-Newtown Road at the Newtown Bypass for hours.

Firefighters from Rescue 45 (Newtown Fire Rescue), Engine 244 (Middletown Fire & Emergency Services), and Rescue 3 (Northampton Township Fire Department) responded to the scene.

Also on the scene were the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad, Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad, the Middletown Township Police Department, the Newtown Borough Police Department, and the Newtown Township Police Department.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
