Two Newtown Township Police sergeants recently graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the department announced this week.
According to information released by Newtown Township Police, Detective Sergeant Jason Harris and Sergeant Christian Joseph graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command as part of Class #246.
The program was hosted at the Bucks County Public Safety Training Center in Doylestown beginning in October and ending Feb. 16. Forty other law enforcement professionals from throughout the area attended, according to authorities.

"Both sergeants managed to attend the program on a part-time basis while still maintaining their normal responsibilities within the department," the announcement said.
According to information from Northwestern University, the School of Police Staff and Command is an intensive ten-week program that "prepares law enforcement managers for senior positions by uniquely combining academic principles with practical applications."

The program launched in 1983 and in 2012 was redesigned with an updated course curriculum.
The revised School of Police Staff and Command is offered on-ground at locations throughout the United States and world, according to Northwestern University.
