Administrators to Provide Feedback on Capital Plan Recommendations

The volunteer capital planning committee has recommended closing schools, including Wrightstown Elementary.

Council Rock administrators are expected to give their feedback on the recommendations made by a volunteer capital planning committee during a meeting Thursday. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.

In June, a volunteer Capital Planning Committee presented three separate proposals to the board. All of the proposals suggest that closing schools is a fiscally necessary next step. Schools suggested for closure include Wrightstown Elementary School, Richboro Middle and Rolling Hills Elementary.

Many residents oppose closing schools, including several from Wrightstown who have been vocal with their aversion to the proposal. An online petition that supports keeping the school open has more than 1,095 signatures as of Wednesday.

Council Rock’s Capital Planning Committee, comprised of volunteers from across the district, was tasked with coming up with a capital plan by assessing buildings and overall student enrollment.
