After Successful First Year, Newtown Ice House Closing For The Season

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Gourmet water ice lovers have one more day to enjoy the frozen treat. Today is the last day of the season for the Newtown Ice House and its gourmet handcrafted water ice.

The store will wrap up its debut season in Newtown Borough on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 12 to 9 p.m. at 156 North State Street.

“The time has come ... It's the last weekend of the season. We want to see your smiling faces before we close. Get your favorites and take some to go - our Buy Two Get One Free Quart Sale is happening now.”

Today’s flavors include:

Soft Serve Ice Cream - Vanilla Custard, Chocolate Custard, Pumpkin Custard in the front freezer and Dole Whip in the front freezer.

Gourmet Water Ice - Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Cherry Amaretto Chip, Cherry Bordeaux, Cotton Candy, Watermelon Chip, Orange Creamsicle, Mountain Mint, Peanut Butter Cup, Apple Pie, Purple Velvet, Strawberry Lemonade, Cappuccino, and Cannoli.

While the ice house will be closing for the season, patrons are encouraged to keep watch on Facebook for pop up events during the coming months.

“We will be holding mini-pop up events where customers can get some seasonal favorites like Pumpkin Pie and apple pie ices,” said owner Jackie McGonigal.

McGonigal reported a "wonderful" first season in Newtown.

“We met a lot of new people and made a lot of new friends. And we had a lot of great community support. It was better than we had hoped for. People are starting to make it a habit of stopping by.”
