NEWTOWN, PA — The public is invited to come out and celebrate the Council Rock Newtown U-11 baseball team on Sunday after winning districts, sections, and the Pennsylvania state championship.
A Welcome Home Party is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at the Chandler Hall Field on South Sycamore Street.
"Let's show this team how proud we are of their accomplishments," said event organizers. "Come celebrate this amazing Little League team."
The team won District 30, Section 8, and the Pennsylvania State tournament titles before advancing to the Mid-Atlantic Little League Regionals held this past week in Beverly, Mass.
At Regionals, the team swept through the winner's bracket, trouncing New York, 10-2, and shutting out Maryland, 7 to 0, before falling in the championship game on Thursday to New Jersey, 5 to 3.
