• Search Officially Underway For Newtown Borough Manager (patch.com) — Newtown Borough is actively recruiting a new full-time borough manager, with applications now being accepted and an advertised salary range of $120,000 to $160,000. Council also approved this year's road program, including repairs on Edgeboro Drive and North Congress Street, and funded crosswalk upgrades identified by the Walk Friendly committee. Due to upcoming renovations at the Chancellor Center, council meetings will move to Newtown Borough Hall for the next 12 to 14 months.
• Bar Incidents, Fraud Investigations Reported In Newtown Borough (patch.com) — Newtown Borough residents are getting a clearer picture of local policing after Chief James Sabath reported 214 July calls, including bar disturbances and several fraud investigations. The department highlighted scams involving fake warrants and bogus car-wrap checks, noting at least one resident avoided losing money. Officers also ran an aggressive driving campaign, issuing 57 citations for speeding and red-light violations around town.
