PINEVILLE, PA —A Philadelphia pizzeria is bringing its mouthwatering pies to Bucks County.

Angelo Pizza, the owner of The Angelo Pizza at 229 Market Street in Philadelphia, is partnering with The Pineville Tavern and owner Andrew Abruzzese, to sell its popular pies at the historic tavern at 1098 Durham Road in Pineville.

Angelo’s pies are now available in the takeout store of the tavern. The takeout store will feature an Italian Market section, offering everything from Angelo’s jarred pizza sauces to The Pineville's famous homemade ravioli, classic sandwiches, cheesesteaks, wings, and egg rolls.

The duo’s relationship dates back three generations, with family ties rooted in Baltimore’s Little Italy, where the two acquired their culinary skills. “Angelo is a third-generation pizzaiolo and I am a third-generation ravioli maker,” explained Abruzzese. “One thing we have in common: there are no compromises in the quality of our products — that’s what makes us different from everyone else.”

The idea for this project has been in the works for years. After Pizza’s pizza received a glowing review by Dave Portnoy of sports entertainment site Barstool Sports in 2020, Angelo’s small frozen pizza business exploded. Abruzzese opened The Pineville’s kitchen to Angelo, allowing him to increase his production tenfold during the pandemic. Now, three years after opening his brick-and-mortar shop in Old City, Angelo and Andrew are working together again.

The nine-item pizza menu will include red and white pies, plain and specialty pizzas in small (12”) and large (18”) sizes with prices ranging from $14-$24. The majority of the pizzas offered in Angelo Pizza’s Old City location will be available at The Pineville, including: The Paulie - thin sliced beef, pork, and veal meatballs, topped with fresh mozzarella; The St. Antney’s – Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, and sweet Vidalia onions; and The Aunt Rose – mortadella and fresh mozzarella finished with a pesto drizzle.

Initially, the pizza will be available for takeout only, but eventually, it will be available for dine-in at the bar.

In addition to the pizzas, the takeout store will roll out four new sandwiches engineered by Chef Matthew Levin: a meatball parmigiana; Mortadella and Fresh Mozzarella; breaded chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise; and The Famous Roasted Veggie.

The takeout store will be open seven days a week from 4 to 10 p.m. Established in 1742, The Pineville Tavern is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Learn more by calling 215.598.3890 or by visiting http://www.PinevilleTavern.com.
