Antique & Classic Car Show Rolls Into Newtown This Weekend: Here Are The Details

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Classic and antique cars and trucks, representing a century's worth of automotive history, will roll into Newtown on Sunday, July 26, for the highly anticipated Newtown Antique & Classic Auto Show.

Organized by the Newtown Business Association and presented by the Inspire Federal Credit Union, this year's event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on State Street, with the town's historic streetscape providing the backdrop for the show. The rain date is Sunday, August 2.

State Street will once again be transformed into an impressive display of automotive history, offering attendees a unique opportunity to view beautifully restored and preserved vehicles up close. The festive atmosphere promises fun for the whole family, with plenty of photo opportunities and chances to learn about the rich heritage of classic cars.

More than 150 antique and classic vehicles will again line State Street, showcasing automotive artistry from pre-1920 through the year 2000.

The event is chaired by Angelo Louridas, with Shighla Jackson serving as events manager. This year's elite sponsors are Mercedes-Benz of Doylestown and Trinity Health/St. Mary Medical Center, with Mercedes-Benz showcasing a selection of its vehicles at the show.

"It will be a wonderful way to spend a Sunday, whether you're a lifelong car enthusiast or just looking for a fun, free day outside in beautiful Newtown," said Jackson.

The annual show is a summer staple in Newtown, drawing thousands of spectators to admire an impressive array of classic and antique automobiles. Car enthusiasts from near and far showcase their prized vehicles and compete for trophies in numerous categories, ranging from pre-1920 models through the year 2000.

The Legendary Pre-War Ford

This year's marque car celebrates the legendary Pre-War Ford, a true icon of American automotive history.

"This is our way of honoring the 250th anniversary of the nation this year," said Louridas, noting that Henry Ford revolutionized the nation and the world with his introduction of the Ford Model T in 1908.

Louridas said he's expecting more than a half dozen Pre-War Fords to be on display at Sunday's show.

"We're again going to have 50- to 100-year-old cars parked in front of 200- to 300-year-old homes. That makes this show pretty unique," said Louridas.

This year's vehicle classes include:

• Pre-1920 through each decade up to 2000
• Trucks, Foreign Cars, Corvettes, and Modified/Custom models (up to 2000)
• Special Interest (any year, including new/kit cars and rare or unique builds)

Judging the cars this year will be Charlie Feuer, Rob Loring, Vince Belardo, Carl Maio, Craig Shivers, Pete and April Berkin, Dilan Cereby, Rich Patton, Cole Probst, Jose Bossbaly, Larry Roper, Robert Lloyd, Corky Swartz, and Peter Kartashov.

New Show Awards

In addition to its prestigious "Best of Show" award and its numerous category awards, the show will be debuting two new awards this year - a People's Choice Award, along with a special new award that will be presented during the awards ceremony taking place between 2 and 2:30 p.m.

The People's Choice Award, sponsored by Inspire Federal Credit Union, will be determined by the public using a special QR code that will be available at the show, organizers said.

Registration closed last Sunday, but will reopen on the day of the show at 8 a.m. "for whoever wants to pop over."

In addition to showcasing cars, the event shines a spotlight on the town, encouraging the local community to shop locally, bringing thousands of people to the bustling borough.

“Our goal is always to encourage our community to patronize local businesses and spend time in our downtown," said NBA President Dave Marcolla. "The added benefit of classic cars parked up and down State Street ensures businesses will benefit from the crowds and fun!”

In addition to the eateries and restaurants in town, the following food trucks will be at the event: The Sweet Shop, Cool Kids Collab, Travelin' Tom's Coffee, Brotherly Love Food Truck, and Kitchen Feast LLC.

Street Closures For The event

Parking restrictions begin at 6 a.m. on the following streets:

• No parking on State Street between Centre Avenue and Jefferson on both sides
• No parking on Jefferson Street between North State and Liberty Streets.
• No parking on Greene Street between North State and Liberty

Road closures begin at 7 a.m.

• State Street between Centre Avenue and Jefferson.

Here's What's Open

• The Jefferson Street and the Washington Avenue bridges will be open to traffic.
• Local businesses will be open.
