Arctic Blast Prompts 'Code Blue' In Bucks County

The National Weather Service predicts the Philadelphia region will see temperatures in the teens Monday night.

Bucks County has declared a Code Blue in light of very cold temperatures predicted this week. The Code Blue is in place through 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says temperatures will dip to the low teens Monday night and stay cold Tuesday, with highs in the 20s again and overnight lows in the upper teens. Wednesday’s high will be in the upper 30s, with overnight lows in the 20s.

Milder air returns Thursday, when temperatures in the mid 40s are predicted throughout the region.

As part of the Code Blue, Bucks County has made arrangements with the on-call churches, Woodside Presbyterian Church in Yardley and Quakertown Masonic Lodge, to activate their emergency shelters. The Central Bucks shelter will open Monday nigh at a location to be determined.

The on-call churches will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities, officials said.

A Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency is also in place in Montgomery County through 9 a.m. Wednesday.
