Arrest Made, 4 Trucks Taken Out Of Service In Newtown Township

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police made one arrest, and four vehicles and four drivers were taken out of service during a commercial vehicle enforcement detail on the Newtown Bypass at Campus Drive.

Officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program issued 72 warnings, 58 citations, placed four drivers and four commercial vehicles out of service, and made one arrest.

The local MCSAP program is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, and Upper Makefield who are specially trained to conduct commercial vehicle inspections and enforcement.

"Regular commercial vehicle inspections and enforcement play an important role in identifying unsafe equipment, impaired or unqualified drivers, and other violations before they can contribute to serious crashes," police said.

"Our motor carrier officers will continue working to promote compliance, improve roadway safety, and protect everyone who travels through our community."
