Assault Investigation, More Fraud Reports: Newtown Township Police
Police also arrested a driver on suspected DUI charges and assisted Buckingham police in serving a warrant on a Newtown resident.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents between Nov. 17 and Nov. 21:
November 17
- A Wrightstown Township resident contacted police around 1:15 p.m. to report unemployment fraud. The Pennsylvania Office of Unemployment Services conducted the investigation and closed the fraudulent account. The resident was advised to monitor her accounts and contact the major credit bureaus.
November 19

- At approximately 2 a.m. police responded to the area of North Sycamore Street for the report of a disturbance. An assault investigation is ongoing.
November 21
- Shortly after 1 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a GMC SUV operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Buck Road and Mill Pond Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.
- A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 3:15 p.m. to report identity theft and wire fraud. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
- Around 3:30 p.m., police assisted Buckingham Township police officers in serving an arrest warrant at a Newtown Township residence. The subject was wanted for fleeing and eluding officers in Buckingham Township and was taken into custody without incident.
- Shortly before 8 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a theft. The investigation is ongoing.
