NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A bar fight, a dog attack and the search for a missing person marked a busy September for the Newtown Borough Police Department.
During his October report to council, Chief James Sabath reported that police were called out to 200 incidents in September and made 82 traffic stops, half of which resulted in citations.
Police also responded to seven accidents including one with injuries that involved a distracted driver on South State Street who struck a parked car.

In other reports, a 25 year old borough woman was chased and bitten by three dogs on Lafayette Street. “The owner was cited for failing to keep the dogs tied up and on premises,” the chief said.
Police were also called to fight at a State Street bar. A 32 year old Bensalem man was arrested for assaulting a 31 year old New Jersey man who suffered broken ribs during the attack, the chief said.

Police also investigated several cases of fraud, most of which did not include a loss of money because they were caught in time, the chief said.
“We did have one where some checks were stolen from an institution on State Street. We have ongoing search warrants to find out where those checks went,” said the chief.
Police also launched an investigation into a missing 26 year old man - a live-in healthcare worker who walked away from his place of employment. “He disappeared under suspicious circumstances. We’re trying to track him down,” the chief said.
“We also had a theft of a leaf blower on Penn Street and a retail theft of alcohol from the Wine and Spirits store,” the chief reported.
