Big February Warm-Up On The Way To Pennsylvania: Forecasters

If you're looking for snow anytime soon, you'll have to go somewhere else.

If you're looking for snow anytime soon, you'll have to go somewhere else.

We're in for a significant warming trend this week, according to forecasters. Of course, this does not mean that winter is over, but we can at least enjoy this break from the bitter cold before it inevitably returns.

The warmup begins on Wednesday — which is Valentine's Day. Temperatures will get up to the 50s that day, and go even higher as the week goes on. On Thursday, expect highs in the 60s.

The warmup is due to Arctic air remaining pent up in central Canada for much of the week, according to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams. “As long as that’s the case, no really cold air is going to be coming into the Northeast in the foreseeable future,” Abrams said.

However, a late-week storm could bring another wave of cold air, forecasters say.

Either way, temperatures are expected to fluctuate throughout the month. “Look for more up-and-down temperature swings,” AccuWeather said in a news release.
