NEWTOWN, PA — Registration is now open for the 12th Annual Bookin’ for Lookin’ Race taking place this year on Sunday, April 21 at Tyler State Park in Newtown.

As an avid runner of half marathons, Mark McCowan founded the Bookin’ for Lookin’ Foundation in 2013 to raise awareness of the struggles people like him face with vision impairment. Since then, he’s raised more than $91,000 to support nonprofit organizations that help blind and visually impaired individuals.

New for this year, the event has added a 10K race in addition to the 5K race for runners who like longer distances or are training for races like the Broad Street Run and the Boston Marathon.

“At Bookin’ we wanted to give runners an opportunity to have a greater course challenge including some hills," said McCowan. "Running along the Neshaminy Creek in Tyler State Park with the calming water can help create a positive mental outlook and often result in better times.”

In addition to adding the 10K race, top finishers in every age category will receive custom travel
mugs and water bottles. There also will be a photo area to capture the day’s event.

“We are really excited to introduce these changes and hope they will encourage even more participation in 2024," said McCowan.

The race is the third of six races in the Bucks 5K Series. The series starts on March 23 with the Blaze of Glory 5K in Plumsteadville and ends with the Bucks County Road Runner Breakfast
5K/10K race on June 16. Participating runners are awarded prizes based on a cumulative
point system with points earned at each of the races.

All proceeds of Bookin’ for Lookin’ support the Bucks County Association for the Blind and
Visually Impaired (BCABVI) based in Newtown.
