Both Council Rock High Schools Make Newsweek's National Rankings

Both Council Rock North and South were listed in the top 200 on Newsweek's latest rankings of the country's top high schools.

Council Rock’s high schools have something to cheer about as the 2014-2015 school year begins.

Both North and South were listed in the top 200 on Newsweek’s latest rankings of the country’s top high schools.

Council Rock South came in at 133 on the list of more than 700 public, private, charter and magnet schools across the country. Council Rock North was ranked just behind South at 141.

The schools received the highest rankings of any high school in Bucks County. Council Rock South was ranked fifth in Pennsylvania and Council Rock North was listed as the seventh-best school in the state.

Newsweek used six indicators for its ranking methodology, its Daily Beast website said, including graduation and college acceptance rates; college-level courses and exams; percentage of students with free or reduced lunch; and SAT and ACT scores.

Other Bucks County schools that made the list include Central Bucks High School South, which came in at 179, and Central Bucks High School East, which came in at 187.

The highest ranked school in Pennsylvania was Unionville High School in Kennett Square.
