The Daily Complaint: Not a single matching glove...

Today's complaint is that I can't find a single matching glove or mitten. Grrrrr....followed by brrrrr.

Complaints.  Everybody's got them, but it's not considered sporting to share them.  I beg to differ.  Complaints release a frustration or irritant -- negative energy, if you will -- and help us get past the source of the agitation.  As long as there's no insulting or name calling imposed, complaints can be therapeutic.

For example: Today a glistening, pristine and quite cold snow has fallen upon our little corner of the world.  Snow in October!  The kids cheered.  I smiled.  Best of all, it's Saturday.  No snow day to make up at the end of the year and no kids to entertain on a workday.

Time to bundle up and go out.  I haven't been in that hats & gloves drawer since last March but there's got to be at least a pair of matching gloves or even mittens per child.  Is that too much to ask?  Apparently.  There's a striped left glove and a brown right glove.  There's an insulated black mitten and another toddler mitten that seemingly escaped the Great Outerwear Purge of 2009.  Where do they go?

Grrrrr....followed by Brrrrrrr.  And with this premature precipitation already upon us, my blood pressure would rise to boiling if my fingers weren't frozen.

Deep breath.  Ah well. From every good venting comes a lesson learned.  Next year, I'll make the purchase of at least one pair of thick gloves or mittens (ironically, those thin, cheesy ones for $2 from Old Navy are the only gloves I can find) part of the back-to-school purchases and I'll stash them away.  Meanwhile, off to find the Grabber Hand Warmers I shoved in the car glove box last February.  Every cloud has a silver lining.  Ah, linings.  Better for look for the coat linings....
