Point Pleasant Fire Chief Scott Fleischer held the Bible as his son, Sam, was sworn in as a career firefighter with Newtown Fire Rescue.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown Township welcomed its newest career firefighter to its staff on Wednesday during a ceremonial swearing in ceremony at the board of supervisors meeting.
Newtown District Judge Mick Petrucci administered the oath to firefighter and EMT Sam Fleischer, who joined the fire service in Bucks County as a junior at the age of 14 and has risen through the ranks.
Fleischer comes to Newtown from Central Bucks County, where he is a member of the Point Pleasant Fire Company and a graduate of Central Bucks High School West and the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology. He is also an associate member of the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1.

Fleischer comes from a family deeply rooted in the fire service. His father, Scott, who held the Bible during his son’s swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, is the chief of the Point Pleasant Fire Company and is the newly named director of emergency services in Doylestown Borough.
“Sam holds numerous certifications, including Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2, so he comes to us with a great deal of knowledge. He’s ready to go,” said Newtown Chief Glenn Forsyth.
Fleischer was joined at the meeting by a large contingent of Newtown firefighters, including members of his platoon and both the career and volunteer firefighters of Newtown Fire Rescue.
