Burglar Arrested, Catalytic Converter Stolen: Newtown Police Report

The Newtown Township Police Department also took a fraud report, investigated a stolen vehicle call and arrested a driver for suspected DUI.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department responded to the following calls from Nov. 4 to 9:

November 4

  • Shortly after midnight, police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one subject was arrested and charged with burglary, assault, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

  • At approximately 10:15 a.m. a Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters to report a fraud. The resident received a check in the mail with an elaborate letter claiming to be from a secret retail research paid survey. The letter included instructions for the check to be deposited and for gift cards to be purchased and forwarded to a listed phone number. The resident recognized that it was a scam right away and did not follow the scammer’s instructions.
  • Police were dispatched to a business located in Newtown Township around 4:30 p.m. for the report of a stolen vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

November 8

  • At approximately 10:15 p.m. police were dispatched for a two-vehicle traffic accident in a parking lot located on Pheasant Run. As a result of the investigation, one of the operators was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending.

November 9

  • At 4:45 p.m. police responded to a business on Terry Drive for the report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim reported that during the business day the catalytic converter was stolen from his personal vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
