The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Washington Avenue in Newtown, will hold their annual Christmas Charity Bazaar on Saturday, December 6th, from 9am to 4pm.
New this year, the church will be on the tour, decorated for Christmas. Outside of the church, shoppers can find fresh hand-decorated wreaths and swags, while sipping on a cup of hot chocolate or wassail. Indoors, there are home-made Christmas Cookies ($15 a box), and other handmade sweets from the bake table. There will be more than a dozen themed baskets and a multitude of silent auction items. Selfie with Santa is back, where visitors can tell Santa what they want for Christmas and snap a shot with their cellphone. There is a white elephant table where you can pick up a variety of interesting treasures, and a handmade craft table from the Prayer Shawl Ministry, which provides knitted and crocheted shawls as a ‘hug’ or reminder that the recipient is covered by a comforting, loving blessing.
A soup luncheon is available for $10 and includes made-from-scratch beef vegetable, lentil vegetable or leek and potato soup, roll, beverage and dessert. For children, there is meal consisting of a hot dog or mac and cheese, chips, cookie and apple juice for $5. Locals call the soup luncheon famous and a great place to have lunch.
The ECW is a ministry of the Episcopal Church, dedicated to spreading God’s love here on earth. The Charity Bazaar is but one of their outreach projects. The group is grateful to the local community for supplying gift certificates and raffle items.
Last year the ECW raised thousands of dollars, supporting 25 different charities. In the past all proceeds have been donated to A Woman’s Place, Doylestown, Aid to Friends, the Sunshine Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Trenton Rescue Mission, local food pantries and others.
The Bazaar will be held on the second floor of the church’s Parish House, located opposite the green from the church; 100 Washington Avenue (Across the street from The Brick Hotel).
