Is Free Speech Truly Free? A discussion hosted by WHYY Bridging Blocks & Friends Village

Event Details
Friends Village and WHYY’s Bridging Blocks are proud to present our next community conversation — and this one is sure to spark thoughtful discussion.
🗣️ What does free speech really mean in today’s world?
The freedom of speech is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, limiting government interference with expression. Yet around the world, many governments impose strict censorship and restrictions on what people can say, share, and believe.
As social media, politics, technology, and public discourse continue to evolve, important questions emerge:
📱 Has social media strengthened free speech — or complicated it?
⚖️ Is there too much freedom, or not enough?
🛑 How do we protect people from harm without suppressing ideas?
💭 Do you feel your own speech is truly free and protected?
This is not a debate stage or a lecture — it’s an opportunity for respectful, open conversation with neighbors and community members from different perspectives. Curiosity encouraged. Civility required. Coffee highly recommended. ☕😉
Join us for an engaging morning of thoughtful discussion, listening, and community connection.
