Candidates Sought For Open Council Rock School Board Seat

Candidates should submit a letter of interest and a resume to Dr. Andrew J. Sanko no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School District is seeking candidates interested in filling an open seat on the school board in region nine, which includes all of Wrightstown Township and voting districts one and two in Newtown Township.

The seat had been held by Kristin Marcell, who resigned on Feb. 10 to concentrate on her work as a newly-elected state representative in the 178th legislative district.

Candidates should submit a letter of interest and a resume to Dr. Andrew J. Sanko no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. Letters may be sent via email at asanko@crsd.org or by mail to the Council Rock School District, 30 North Chancellor Street, Newtown 18940.

Letters must be signed and confirmed that the candidate resides in Region 9, has been a resident of the school district for at least a year, is at least 18 years old and is a qualified elector.

Interviews of selected candidates will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The board may make an appointment that night or at a special meeting prior to Friday, March 10.

Candidates should be able to meet with the school board in person for an interview on Feb. 28, but call-in capability will be available.

The successful candidate will be appointed to the seat through November 2023 when voters select a candidate to fill the open seat.
