Car Crashes Into CVS; Another Postal Check Fraud Case In Newtown Boro

Chief James Sabath delivers monthly crime report at borough council meeting.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA - During the month of December, the Newtown Borough Police Department answered 124 calls for service, including five automobile accident investigations.

During his monthly report at Tuesday night's council meeting, Chief James Sabath also reported that another vehicle crashed into the CVS Pharmacy at Penn and Lincoln in December. This time it was a 20 year old who hit the gas instead of the brake and ran into a post on the Penn Street side of the building, said the chief.

The chief also reported another check fraud case, this one involving a bill dropped in the collection box outside of the Richboro Post Office.

Police continue to urge residents to drop their mail inside the post offices and not to use the outside collection containers, which have become a target of criminals who steal checks, alter them and then cash them out.

The chief also reported the arrest of a 52 year old woman for domestic assault during the month.

Law enforcement also conducted two death investigations in December - a 95 year old woman on Sterling Street and a 70 year old man on South Lincoln, the chief reported.
