Career Firefighter Joins The Ranks At Newtown Fire Rescue

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Fire Rescue welcomed its newest career firefighter/EMT Wednesday night during a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony.

Anthony Vaccaro, joined by family members, was sworn in by District Judge Michael Petrucci during a meeting of the township's board of supervisors.

B0rn and raised in Easton, Vaccaro developed a passion for firefighting at an early age. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter before joining the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Fire Department.

"Gaining valuable experience in the field, Anthony has now returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to his family, bringing his dedication and experience to serve the community here at Newtown Fire Rescue," said Chief Glenn Forsyth.

The addition of Vaccaro to the team brings the department up to 13 firefighters and two chiefs, with one firefighter out for an injury. That allows the company to provide full-time service to the borough and the township 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
