Charges Filed In Upper Makefield Burglary

A personal trainer stole gym equipment from the Traditions Community Clubhouse, then returned it after police interviewed him, cops say.

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — A personal trainer stole gym equipment from the clubhouse at the Traditions Community in Upper Makefield, then returned it days after he was interviewed by police, authorities said.

According to Upper Makefield police, 36-year-old Jayson Sia of Hamilton, N.J. has been charged with burglary and related charges in connection with the incident that occurred over the summer.

Police say on Aug. 3, they received a report that the Traditions clubhouse had been burglarized and "numerous" piece of gym equipment had been stolen. As part of the investigation, officers spoke with Sia. He was a personal trainer who worked with an resident of the Tradition's community, authorities said.

Police say Sia used his client's gate passcode to get into the gated community, where he took the equipment.

On Sept. 3, just two days after investigators spoke with Sia, the gym equipment reappeared. It was left at the front of the clubhouse, police said.

He is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property.

Sia surrendered to police Tuesday and was arraigned that day. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8, court records show.
