Ticketmaster recently agreed to pay $386 million to settle a 13-year-old lawsuit against customers who accused the company of publishing misleading fee information, and the ticket distributor says you're going to be paid back.
The company is sending out free tickets to U.S. customers who made purchases on its site between October 1999 and February 2013, and paid an "Order Processing Fee," according to a statement from Live Nation Entertainment.
That fee was never refunded. The lawsuit had alleged Ticketmaster, whose parent company is Live Nation, was charging excessive and deceptive fees.
Once ticket codes are made available to you in your Ticketmaster account, you may attempt to use your codes to claim “free tickets” identified as available for redemption on the Live Nation website, according to the company.
These “free tickets” are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be available for redemption if others have claimed them before you.
For a list of guidelines regarding using your ticket codes, visit the official "settlement website," http://www.ticketfeelitigation.com/faq#Q18.
If you are interested in using your ticket codes towards the purchase of event tickets, first retrieve your ticket codes by logging on to https://www.ticketmaster.com/member/vouchers.
Once you have your ticket codes ready, select an event from the list of eligible events displayed on the Live Nation website and proceed through the purchase process.
On the "Billing Page" during your transaction, look for a “Voucher Code” link and enter your ticket code to receive your discounts.
As of Monday afternoon, the Live Nation site had not listed any events.
