Melissa Tenzer heads foundation in Memory of Her Sister Kate Sottile

BUCKS COUNTY, PA (6/17/26) — Melissa Tenzer, a nationally recognized community leader and nonprofit executive, proudly announces the continued growth and impact of The Cherry Tree Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to students pursuing careers in music, education, and community-focused fields.
Founded in Bucks County in loving memory of her sister, Kathryn Marie Sottile, The Cherry Tree Foundation was created to honor her legacy by opening doors for the next generation of students. Through meaningful financial support and community engagement, the foundation is committed to helping high school seniors achieve their academic and professional dreams.
"In the face of loss, we chose to create something meaningful and lasting," said Melissa Tenzer. "The Cherry Tree Foundation represents love, resilience, and the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their circumstances."

In partnership with the Dress for Success Business Academy at Trenton Central High School (TCHS), which Tenzer founded in 2022, The Cherry Tree Foundation awarded $4,750 in scholarships this year to deserving students. Chance Gilmore was grateful to receive the Foundation's $4,000 scholarship, which will cover the cost of his first semester at Mercer County Community College. Three additional students each received $250 book scholarships to support their educational journeys.
Crystal M. Feliciano, Teacher Leader at TCHS, R&B Small Learning Academy, and The Cherry Tree Foundation Board Member had this to say, “The Cherry Tree Foundation is proud to invest in our community's future by supporting outstanding students like Chance Gilmore.
Thanks to the dedication and generosity of our board and supporters, we are honored to award Chance a $4,000 scholarship as he begins his next chapter at Mercer County Community College. We congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to seeing all he will accomplish in the years ahead.”
The Cherry Tree Foundation continues to expand its national footprint, with upcoming fundraising events, partnerships, and scholarship opportunities planned throughout Bucks County and beyond.
“Kate uplifted and inspired the community for decades with her angelic voice,” said The Cherry Tree Vice President Christine Curnan. “It is especially meaningful that, through the leadership of Melissa and our board, one scholarship will always be rooted in Bucks County, Pennsylvania-ensuring her legacy and life is never forgotten.”
