CNN Senior Legal Analyst To Speak At Newtown Synagogue

NEWTOWN, PA — Reform synagogue Shir Ami is joining Newtown Hadassah and the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia to present a special program featuring CNN Senior Legal Analyst, Elie Honig.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shir Ami, 101 Richboro Road, in Newtown. Honig will discuss how family history, Jewish identity and community have shaped his life and work.

In addition to his work on CNN, Honig spent 14 years serving as a federal and state prosecutor. While his professional work has placed him at the center of high-profile legal conversations, the program will focus on the person behind the role. He is the grandson of Holocaust survivors - a grandfather who survived Sachsenhausen, and a grandmother who survived Bergen-Belsen. Honig’s understanding of identity, responsibility, and community was shaped by his grandparents’ stories, resilience, and commitment to family and Jewish life.

The Jewish values of justice, memory, accountability and caring for one another continue to guide Honig’s work and public life. He is respected for his thoughtful, accessible approach and ability to speak with clarity, humility, and heart.
