Construction Underway at Goodnoe Garden
The school hopes to complete the garden in August, in time for the next school year. But the PTO needs your help!

A new outdoor learning space at Goodnoe Elementary school is nearing completion and the PTO is seeking the public’s help to make it a success.
The Goodnoe Garden will feature a raised planting bed for each grade level, a perennial garden filled with native plants and a large rainbow shaped patio for group lessons and special activities.
The PTO is seeking monetary donations and as well as the following materials: woodchip mulch and planting soil, organic mulch for planting beds, a compost bin, a hose reel and hoses, wheelbarrow, garden gloves and tools.

Planning for the project began in 2013 and fundraising started the following year. Ground was broken on the project in April; the school hopes to finish the garden by August in time for the next school year.
“Enthusiasm for the new project is building within the Goodnoe community,” the PTO said in a press release.

Once the project is complete, the school hopes to have a garden club for students in addition to utilizing the space during class.
Parents, teachers and local businesses have made contributions. A portion of the funding will come via a grant from the Council Rock Education Foundation, the PTO said.
Parent volunteers will assist with several phases of the garden construction under the direction of Josh Witkoski of JW Land Services.
All donations valued over $50 will be acknowledged on the donor plaque if confirmed before mid-June, the PTO said. For more information, visit the Goodnoe Elementary School PTO’s website by clicking here or email GoodnoeGarden@verizon.net.
