Could Pennsylvania be next to consider legalizing marijuana for recreational use? The governor wants to explore it.

HARRISBURG, PA — Could Pennsylvania be next to consider legalizing marijuana for recreational use? Some recent words from Gov. Tom Wolf indicate it could be coming down the pipeline.
On Wednesday, during a public question and answer session on Twitter, Wolf said "it is time for Pennsylvania to take a serious and honest look at recreational marijuana."
The tweeted answer was in response to this question: When will PA catch up and make recreational marijuana legal?

More and more states are successfully implementing marijuana legalization, and we need to keep learning from their efforts. Any change would take legislation. But I think it is time for Pennsylvania to take a serious and honest look at recreational marijuana. https://t.co/LHOmYKzMyp

In Pennsylvania, marijuana is legal for medical uses but not recreational. In 2016, Wolf signed medical marijuana legalization into law and the program has been rolling out since then.
A batch of 23 dispensaries were approved for licenses just this week. Once those dispensaries are operational, there will be a total of 79 medical marijuana dispensaries in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvanians requesting medical marijuana must be authorized by a participating doctor and must be suffering from one of the approved 21 serious medical conditions.
If Pennsylvania moves towards legalizing marijuana for recreational uses, it would join 10 states in doing so.
Nearby in New Jersey, lawmakers have drafted a bill that would legalize it for recreational uses. However, the Garden State's bill has hit a snag since legislators and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy have yet to agree on the details.
