Council Rock Administrators Recommend Against Full-Day Kindergarten

The benefits of a full-day kindergarten program would not justify the expense, Council Rock administrators say.

Council Rock administrators are not recommending a full-day kindergarten program for the district. The recommendation was made during a presentation Monday at the Ad-Hoc Master Capital Planning Committee.

Susan Elliott, assistant superintendent for Teaching and Learning at Council Rock, told the committee that the learning benefits of full-day kindergarten do not justify the expense, according to a report by the Bucks County Courier Times.

"Research suggests there are initial gains but that they diminish after a year or two," she said, according to report. "You start to see diminished gains from the second grade and beyond."
