Council Rock Ranked Among Best School Districts In Pennsylvania

Niche gives the Newtown-based district an A; ranks it 37th in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and second in Bucks.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School District has been ranked the second-best school district in Bucks County and the 37th-best in Pennsylvania in Niche’s 2025 Best Schools and Districts rankings released Monday.

Niche gave the school district an overall letter grade of A. Grades in specific categories were:

  • Academics - A
  • Diversity - C
  • Teachers - A+
  • College Prep - A
  • Clubs & Activities - B+
  • Administration- A-

Council Rock also ranked 14th for best places to teach in Pennsylvania and 10th for the best teachers in Pennsylvania.

Council Rock High School North received an A from Niche. It is ranked 31st out of 683 for best public high schools in Pennsylvania, 44th out of 663 for best college prep high schools in Pennsylvania, and 12th out of 670 for best high school teachers in Pennsylvania.

Council Rock High School South received an A from Niche. It is ranked 48th out of 683 for best public high schools in Pennsylvania, 75th out of 663 for best college prep high schools in Pennsylvania and 29th out of 670 for best public high school teachers in Pennsylvania.

Council Rock School District has a student population of 10,477 students in grades K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 16 to 1. According to state test scores, 61 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 74 percent in reading.

The rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
