Council Rock Cancels After-School Activities, Evening Events
With expected heavy rainfall and high winds, Council Rock is canceling activities due to possible hazardous road conditions.

NEWTOWN, PA —The Council Rock School District is canceling all after-school activities and evening events today (January 9) due to the potential for heavy rainfall and high winds this evening and tonight.
School officials said after consulting with first responders and the weather forecast for later Tuesday afternoon and evening, they made the decision to cancel all after-school activities and events. Council Rock buildings and facilities will close at the end of the school day.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly said that the region could receive up to 3 inches of rain with the heaviest rainfall expected from later this afternoon until 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The ground remains saturated following multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the last month, raising concern over flooding throughout the region, said the weather forecasters.
Meanwhile, there is a wind advisory for inland areas with gusts up to 55 mph in some areas, the weather service said.
