Council Rock Choirs In Semifinals Of B101.1 Christmas Choir Contest
The top-tier highly-competitive choral ensembles will again be competing in the high school portion of the contest, which begins on Monday.
NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock NorthVoice and the Council Rock South Vocal Ensemble are back in the semifinals of the B101.1 Christmas Choir Competition.
The top-tier highly-competitive choral ensembles will again be competing in the high school portion of the contest, which begins on Monday and continues through mid-week culminating in the finals on Thursday.
Nine high school choirs from around the Delaware Valley are scheduled to compete beginning on Monday, Dec. 6 when the NorthVoice goes up against Central Bucks South and Creative Arts High School.

The NorthVoice can be heard live on the air at 7 a.m. performing its arrangement of the Christmas classic, “What Child is This?”
On Tuesday, Council Rock South will be up against Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School and Moorestown Friends School as it performs “Mambo Santa Mambo.”

Competing on Wednesday will be Ridley High School, Cherry Hill High School West and Springfield Township High School.
Winners will be selected based on a number of factors, including a public vote. Throughout the day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the public will be asked to vote for their favorite song on the B101.1 website.
The winner each day will advance to the final round, which takes place on Thursday. The winners will be announced on Friday.
The radio station will be giving away $16,000 in prizes to area school music programs this year. First place winners in both divisions will have their choir's song featured on B101 throughout the holidays and the school's music program will win a cash prize of $5,000.
Plus, the first place choirs will be invited to perform their winning song at A Philly Pops Christmas: Spectacular Sounds of the Season.
Second place winners in each division receive a $2,000 cash prize and third place winners receive a $1,000 cash prize - all to benefit their school music programs.
NorthVoice has frequently been a semifinalist in the B101.1 Christmas Choir Competition. Most recently, the choir was the Grand Prize winner in the 2020 competition and they were semi-finalists in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021.
NorthVoice performs a varied repertoire from Renaissance motets to vocal jazz and from classical to contemporary choral literature. It sings at a variety of events throughout the school and community. All members of NorthVoice also sing in Symphonic Choir or Chorale.
The South Vocal Ensemble is the elite choral ensemble at Council Rock High School South whose members are selected through audition. It has also been a frequent semifinalist in the competition.
