Council Rock Education Foundation Awards Innovative Learning Grants

Council Rock Education Foundation has announced the recipients of Innovative Learning Grants in Council Rock Schools.

The Council Rock Education Foundation honored its newest awardees of outstanding innovative educators at a school board meeting last month. Ten new Innovative Learning Grants to teachers and classrooms throughout Council Rock were awarded.

Superintendent Dr. Robert Fraser extended congratulations to the grant recipients and Foundation for their dedication and commitment to the students of Council Rock. “The Education Foundation is a key partner supporting the District’s goal to provide the best possible educational opportunities to our students.”

This spring, the Council Rock Education Foundation received many outstanding proposals, selecting ten projects that most exemplified the Foundation's mission to support innovative experiences that enrich the excellent quality of education in Council Rock schools. These projects will bring new ideas into schools and classrooms for the 2016-2017 academic year, engaging students in learning while making it fun – from a NASA flight and rocketry program to mindfulness training, computer coding to budding birders, STEM library to a STEM makerspace, just to name a few. Additional grants include programs in literacy, robotics, fidget to focus methods, and the Arts. Some student will even have the opportunity to work with jazz musician Victor Lopez (formerly of the Miami Sound Machine) composing an original work for the Council Rock’s Jazz Band that will debut in April of 2017.

“Tonight, we celebrate as a whole CR community of faculty, parents, alumni, and students. We know the significant value of these programs and the real difference they make in the lives of our children and beyond”, states Gail Acosta, the Foundation’s Executive Director. “We are grateful for the generous support from individuals and business throughout the community who believe in supporting innovative projects in our district.”
