Council Rock High School North Presents The Great Gatsby

Sock 'n' Buskin enters its 51st year!

Come out and see the classic American novel brought to life on stage right here in Newtown on November 15, 16, and 17! Set on Long Island in 1922, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous novel provides a critical social history of America during a time of economic prosperity, jazz, and prohibition, starring Mason Olshavsky as Jay Gatsby (pictured above).

“Sock 'n' Buskin has always attracted talented, dedicated kids, and this year is no exception,” says Miranda Leiggi, the new director of Sock ‘n’ Buskin, and a former member of the club. “It is a great production of a classic story and we are excited to share it with the community!”

The roles of Daisy and Tom Buchanan are being played by senior Izzy Taber and junior Marc Lubman. A newcomer to Sock ‘n’ Buskin, Marc is looking forward to being on stage for the first time: “I can’t wait to see how all of our hard work comes together to make one amazing performance!”

With a cast of students, ranging from 9th to 12th grade, Sock ‘n’ Buskin prides itself on being entirely student-run, giving students the opportunity to learn technical skills in lighting, sound, and stage management, as well as performing on stage. Junior Sarah Barlyn is stage manager for this production and is grateful for the experience. “Gatsby is such a powerful story,” said Sarah, “we can’t wait to bring these scenes from the roaring 20’s to life for our audience!”

Tickets are $12 adults/$10 students and can be reserved online at https://crnsnb.booktix.com. Performances will take place on November 15-17 at 7 pm at Council Rock North, 62 Swamp Road in Newtown.
