The Pennsylvania Department of Education recently released average SAT scores for each public high school in the state. A perfect score on the test, which is administered by the College Board, is 1600. The reading and writing portion has 800 possible points, and the math portion also has 800 possible points.

The average score for Council Rock North students was 1217. North students on average earned 612 on the reading and writing portion and 605 for the math portion.

Council Rock South students earned an average score of 1,165 (585 for reading and writing and 580 for math).

The highest scoring school in the state was Western Area Career and Technology Center, where students averaged a score of 1450.

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities during the admission process. The test it is just one factor and is typically considered in conjunction with GPA, academic transcript, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, interviews, and personal essays, according to the Princeton Review.
