Council Rock Redistricting Delayed Until 2019-20
Breaking: Council Rock just announced the redistricting plan has been delayed by a year.

Council Rock School District has just announced the redistricting plan has been delayed by a year.
In a message to parents on Thursday afternoon, Council Rock Superintendent Robert Fraser said a redistricting vote will be delayed in order for the committee to finalize its work.
"The District previously communicated that a tentative vote may occur at the February 15th Board meeting, but additional Committee work and time constraints will not make this feasible. Also part of this recommendation is that no redistricting, including of this year’s 6th grade students, would take effect during the 2018-19 school year; rather, redistricting would begin with the 2019-20 school year."

A new timeline for a community meeting to go over an amended proposal and a subsequent vote has yet to be established, Fraser said.
Dozens of Northampton Township residents have expressed outrage over the initial proposal, saying it would isolate their children from the community and divide neighborhoods. Those opponents have asked the committee to consider making Richboro Elementary a north feeding school. That idea has been rejected, district officials say, because it would cause an imbalance between the regions, and would result in Newtown Middle School exceeding 100 percent capacity.
