Vote On Council Rock Redistricting Could Come As Soon As Jan. 25

Action on the redistricting plan first released Jan. 9 could come as soon as Jan. 25, the district says on its website.

Council Rock School District has released a proposed redistricting map ahead of a community forum Thursday. The proposed map can be found here.

According to information on the district website, a vote on the redistricting maps could come as early as Jan. 25 — giving the public just two weeks to review the proposal, which would result in broad changes across the district. The proposed plan relocates about 10 percent of elementary students.

"Board action regarding the Committee’s proposed redistricting plan will tentatively occur at a Special Board meeting scheduled for January 25," the website says.

The maps, which shift students from several schools, were prepared by the district Redistricting Committee. The committee was made up of two parent representatives from each building, three building administrators, and five central office administrators. According to the district, the committee studied enrollment projections, reviewed community feedback, examined housing information and analyzed building capacity.

The forum will be held at Council Rock High School South starting at 7 p.m. It will include a formal presentation by Central Office Administrators on redistricting history, committee process, and the proposed redistricting plan.
