Council Rock School Board To Discuss Redistricting Plan Thursday
Thursday's meeting will be held at Newtown Middle School. It starts at 7 p.m.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School Board will discuss a redistricting proposal during a meeting Thursday, Nov. 15 at Newtown Middle School. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
The board will review the latest proposal, which was released in late October. The proposal includes several changes from redistricting maps previously circulated. Those changes include revised sending areas for Holland Elementary and Hillcrest Elementary schools, as well as shifting more students from Wrightstown Elementary to Sol Feinstone.

The plan has come under fire from parents, who have launched a petition against its approval. So far 368 people have signed the petition.
"Unfortunately, with the Board's proposal they may well have maxed schools in the North and South with no options for the future. So another major redistricting could encompass multiple schools and involve the proposed flip to expand North feeder classroom availability," the Change.org petition states.

The petition asks the board to stop the current redistricting plan and "void restrictive CRSD Boards redistricting 'guidelines' that handcuff the administration." The petition suggests Richboro Elementary School should be flipped from a South feeding school to a North feeding school, effective starting in 2019-2020. Such a move would "immediately" solve the imbalance of students attending North.
The district's redistricting committee has been working since last year to craft the plan, which has been revised since its initial creation.
