Council Rock School Board Reorganizes, Selects New President

The Council Rock School Board held its reorganization meeting Thursday, and appointed Jerold Grupp as board president. Kyle McKessy was selected as board vice president.

The reorganization meeting also included the swearing in of the following re-elected incumbents:

• Andy Block (Region 8, Four Year Term)
• Mark Byelich (Region 6, Four Year Term)
• Kyle McKessy (Region 9, Four Year Term)

Mariann McKee (Region 1, Two Year Term) was sworn in as the newest member of the board.

The final status of the seat previously held by Denise Brooks, which ended in a tie, is still to be determined. Officials expect a resolution by the Dec. 21 meeting, said Council Rock Spokeswoman Susan O’Grady.

Committee chairs were not yet selected due to the current vacant seat. However, it was determined that Wendi Thomas will continue serving as the chair of the Finance Committee and Mike Thowart will continue serving as chair of the Facilities Committee.
